Villa Des Indes I’s competent and charming chef is on hand to prepare daily breakfast (included in the rate), as well as lunch and dinner on request. The varied and reasonably priced menu of Indonesian, Asian and Western dishes caters to all tastes – everything from scrumptious salads and fresh-from-the-sea fish to tenderloin steak and cocktail tapas. The chef happily cooks off-menu dishes according to guests’ requirements, and can tailor meals to accommodate any special dietary requirements. If you would like to host a dinner party while in residence, the chef can prepare a gourmet meal for up to 25 guests. (Off-menu groceries and beverages will be charged at cost plus 10.5% tax and 5% service.) The chef’s private in-villa cooking classes are also very popular with our guests.
One of the delights of staying in a private villa is the personalised service accorded to guests. The villa’s well-trained and gracious staff appear in a flash when needed while keeping discreetly behind the scenes when not. With every interaction, they aim to please with their warm and distinctively Balinese hospitality.
Villa Des Indes’ manager and assistant manager are responsible for the overall operation of the villa. Their job is to oversee and coordinate the staff to meet the expectations of the guests, as well as to assist guests during their stay.
Villa Des Indes’ skilled chef and cook will happily prepare anything from the reasonably priced menu of Western and Asian dishes, as well accommodate special requests and dietary requirements.
Our butlers are on hand to tend to every guest’s need, serving meals and beverages and attending to daily housekeeping.
A gardener maintains the swimming pools, ponds and garden.
Guests are kept safe and secure by the villa’s night-shift security as well as the Laksmana Estate’s 24-hour team.
Villa holidays are a great choice for families, who can enjoy the villa’s private facilities with the freedom to use them whenever they want. Knowing that the kids can play independently and safely, without you having to worry about them disturbing other guests, is a huge benefit – and one that means parents are certain to have a more relaxed holiday too.
Thanks to the configuration of bedrooms in three different buildings within the garden, Villa Des Indes I provides fabulous space for a large family, or for a pair of families holidaying together. (For guests feeling particularly social and travelling with a crowd, the sister villas Des Indes II and III on the same estate give the option of five more bedrooms.)
While older kids will relish the lagoon pool that wraps around the living pavilion, guests will have to keep an eye on toddlers. There is the option to hire a pool fence though, along with other equipment, including high chairs and baby cots (click here to see list of available hire items). And the staff love making kids feel welcome. There’s a kids menu too – and the chef is always happy to make something off-menu for fussy eaters.
Check out our Things to do page for adventures beyond the villa – there’s plenty in the area to keep all the family amused throughout the holiday.
Feel like a body scrub or massage? Just ask our staff to bring the spa to you! We can recommend deluxe treatments carried out in the privacy of your villa by fully trained therapists from a reputable local spa (extra charges will apply). Here’s a sample of what’s on the menu:
Release built up tension with a traditional Balinese massage. Using a combination of gentle stretches, acupressure and aromatherapy oils to stimulate the flow of blood, oxygen and energy around your body, you will feel totally relaxed in no time.
Foot reflexology is a natural healing art based on the principle that there are reflexes in the feet corresponding to every part of the body. Through application of pressure on these reflexes tension is relieved and circulation improved leaving you feeling balanced.
A full body scrub will exfoliate and hydrate your skin leaving it soft and smooth. A rejuvenating scrub combines an abrasive material such as salt, coffee, rice bran or pecan hulls with essential oils to remove any impurities and make your skin glow.
Our hands and feet work hard for us every day but rarely get the attention they deserve. Treat them to a manicure or pedicure, which usually comes with the added bonus of a quick hand or foot massage.
Welcome to Villa Des Indes I – a rare, one-of-a-kind jewel set in the exclusive Laksmana estate in Seminyak’s most sought-after locale, moments from the beach.
The villa is designed in the style of a Dutch-era hill station, with individual living and sleeping pavilions spread around the garden. Its splendid living pavilion is a centuries-old teakwood joglo – once the residence of a Javanese aristocrat, and re-assembled in Bali. Today, with its elaborately sculpted pillars and intricately carved panels, the joglo commands centre-stage as an open-sided, open-plan living space surrounded by a 21-metre lagoon-style swimming pool and an ornamental koi pond.
Here, and in the four impeccably proportioned bedrooms, you’ll find an eclectic collection of colonial-style furniture, Asian antiques and Indonesian artefacts that add to the villa’s unique character – a gramophone cabinet in the master bathroom, a travel desk in a guest bedroom, an antique (working) telephone in the joglo, Oriental rugs and prized pieces stand on floors of polished teakwood and Palimanan stone, Dutch East Indies travel posters and black and white photos of 1930s Bali beam down from every wall. Out of sight, but always on hand, are the villa butlers, ready to meet your every whim – whether an espresso served on your bedroom veranda, silver service afternoon tea in the joglo, or a sunset cocktail prepared in the bar. Your accomplished chef will serve a hearty breakfast, and will happily prepare a light lunch or gourmet candle-lit dinner from an appealingly priced menu.
With its warm service and wonderful surroundings, you might be challenged to leave this distinctive villa (named after Holland’s legendary turn-of-the-20th-Century Hotel Des Indes). Add the best of Seminyak a short walk away – think Ku de Ta, La Lucciola, Potato Head and Bali’s most noted restaurants, boutiques and spas – and Des Indes I is the perfect choice for five-star-seeking, fun-loving families and friends.
