about Villa Des Indes

The antique ‘joglo’ is the centerpiece of this magnificent property. The Joglo was originally located in Demak, Central Java, an area famous for its skilled artisans who spent their days intricately carving fine timber houses. Destined to be demolished, the owners rescued it and waited until the perfect site was available to rebuild.

Transporting each piece to Bali, the Joglo was transformed as the social centrepiece of what has become one of the most unique properties on the island, steeped in time honored tradition.

The owners have a passion to preserve and share the rich heritage of Indonesian culture and have spent over thirty-seven years collecting museum quality antiques. Every piece throughout VILLA DES INDES has it’s own story (see ‘The Antiques’ icon) from the extensive collection of Balinese art and artifacts, curios and works of art to the Dutch safes, plantation chairs and original pre World War II travel posters.
